Can AI answer questions from my own notes?
Yes. Ask in plain language, the way you'd ask a classmate who'd read everything you have. Nibit searches your pages by keyword and by meaning, so it finds the right page even when you word things differently, and answers from them. Each claim that comes from your notes carries a source chip naming the page it used, and clicking the chip opens that page at the passage. Follow-up questions understand what you asked before.
How do I point it at one topic?
Type @ and pick a page, a chapter or a notebook, or type @here for the note you have open. "@Photosynthesis what limits the rate in a warm greenhouse?" asks only about that note, which keeps the answer on topic when the same word means different things in two subjects. To include the open note every time, turn on "Attach the note you have open" in Settings.
You can also highlight a passage in a note or a PDF and press Ask. The answer appears in a card beside the passage, so the source stays in view, and Ask a follow-up carries it into the full chat. The Ask Nibit guide walks through every way to use it.
What happens when my notes don't have the answer?
Nibit can still answer from general knowledge, and says so in the answer when it does. Only the parts backed by your notes get source chips, so you can tell which sentences rest on what you wrote. Questions about subjects your notes don't cover at all are politely turned down: Ask is there to help with what you're studying.
How is this different from search?
Search finds pages. Press ⌘K on a Mac or Ctrl K on Windows and it looks through every page, imported document and generated note you own. Ask your notes reads those pages for you and writes an answer, with source chips naming the pages it used. Use search when you know roughly what you're looking for, and ask when you want the answer itself.

What it doesn't do
- It needs a connection. Both search and answers run on the server, so neither works offline.
- It only reads notebooks you own. Notebooks other people have shared with you aren't searched.
- It answers from what you've put in. If a lecture never made it into your notes, the answer will come from outside them, and Nibit will mark it that way.
- It isn't a replacement for working the problem. For practice problems, Intuition gives you one hint at a time instead of the finished answer.
Questions people ask
Are my notes used to train AI?
No. Nothing you put in Nibit or send through its AI features is used to train Nibit's or OpenAI's models. Questions are processed by OpenAI in the United States and deleted after up to 30 days. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Can it read my imported PDFs and lecture recordings?
Yes. Imported documents and transcribed recordings become pages in your notebook, and anything that's a page can be asked about and cited.
Can I ask about a notebook someone shared with me?
No. Ask your notes only reads notebooks you own.
