Can AI make flashcards from my notes?
Yes. Choose what the deck should cover from your notebook, as broad as several notebooks or as narrow as one page. You can add files too: PDF, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, TXT, Markdown, HTML, audio recordings, or a link to a website or YouTube video. If you add a syllabus, Nibit focuses the cards on the topics it lists.
Before it writes anything, you choose:
- How many cards, from 1 to 60. If the material is thin, you may get fewer.
- Difficulty: easy, medium, hard or mixed.
- Card style: question and answer, definitions, formulas, concept explanations, fill in the blank, true or false, or a mix.
- Explanations, on or off, for a line of context under each answer.
Do I get to check the cards first?
Yes. A new deck arrives as a draft. Rename it, edit the front or back of any card, remove the ones you don't want, or regenerate the whole draft. Nothing is saved until you say so. After saving, you can still add, edit and delete cards whenever you like.
How does studying a deck work?
Turn the card over, then mark yourself: "Got it wrong" or "Got it right". You can also use the keyboard. At the end, the summary shows which cards to review again.
Nibit keeps a running count of how often you've got each card right and wrong. The next time you study the deck, the cards you've missed most come first, and each card shows how many times you've missed it before. Stop halfway and you can pick up where you left off.
Every review also feeds your weak areas, so a topic you keep missing on flashcards shows up next to the ones you miss in quizzes.
Can I export my flashcards?
Yes, as a CSV file with the front, back, card type, difficulty and explanation of every card. Most flashcard apps, Anki included, can import a CSV.
How much does it cost?
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| New decks | 1 a week | Unlimited |
| Studying decks you've made | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Price | $0 | $12 a month or $85 a year |
Free limits reset every Monday. Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax, except in the EU, where Pro is $15 a month or $105 a year including VAT. Pro can also read four times as much source material into a single deck. The full plans table is on the home page.
What it doesn't do
- It isn't a spaced repetition scheduler. Nibit orders cards by how often you've missed them. It doesn't set review dates or intervals. If you want cards scheduled for you over months, Anki is built for that. See Nibit vs Anki.
- It doesn't repeat a missed card in the same session. Missed cards are listed at the end and come first next time.
- Cards are text. There are no image cards, and fill in the blank is a written style, not true cloze deletion.
- It doesn't import decks. You can export a deck as CSV, but there's no import from Anki, Quizlet or a spreadsheet.
- It needs a connection to generate. Writing a deck calls a model, so you need to be online.
Questions people ask
Are my notes used to train AI?
No. Nothing you put in Nibit or send through its AI features is used to train Nibit's or OpenAI's models. OpenAI processes requests in the United States and deletes them after up to 30 days. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Can I share a deck?
Yes. Share it like a notebook, and the person you share it with keeps their own right and wrong counts. They can also copy the deck into their own account.
Does each card show where it came from?
Yes. Each card is labelled with its source, the page or the file it was written from.
Can I make flashcards for my weak topics?
Yes. When you generate a deck you can focus it on up to four of your weak areas, the topics you've been missing in quizzes and on other decks.
Does the study planner make flashcards too?
Yes. Each topic in a study plan can have its own deck, made when you ask for it. Those decks use the same weekly allowance.
