What can Nibit make notes from?
Any mix of these:
- Your own notes: notebooks, chapters and pages
- Files: PDF, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, TXT, Markdown and HTML. A long PDF can be cut to a page range first.
- Audio: MP3, M4A, WAV, WEBM, OGG, FLAC and MP4 files up to 100 MB, transcribed when you add them
- Web pages: any public page, with its images kept as figures
- YouTube videos: from the video's English captions, up to 30 minutes long on Free and 4 hours on Pro
- Just a topic: with no sources at all, Nibit writes from general knowledge and says so on the page
Choose between revision notes and full notes, and a detail level of brief, standard or in-depth. Figures and page images in your sources are read too, so a labelled diagram in a PDF can end up in the notes.
How do I know where each point came from?
The notes carry numbered markers, and end with a References list naming your sources: the file, the page, the video. Numbers that don't match a real source are removed, so every reference points at something you gave it.
When Nibit adds something that isn't in your sources, it's marked [+] and explained in the list as added from general knowledge. You can turn references and additions on or off before generating.
Can it read scanned or handwritten PDFs?
Yes. If a PDF is scanned, Nibit asks before reading it, because it uses your AI import allowance. It reads printed text, handwriting or a mix, up to 200 pages per document.
A standalone photo isn't accepted as a source for notes. Put it on a page, or use a PDF.
What does Polish do to notes I already have?
Polish rewrites a page you own, or just a selection, in one of five ways:
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Standard | Fixes grammar, spelling, clarity and obvious factual errors |
| Organize | Adds headings, categories and bullet points without losing detail |
| Summarize | Shortens the notes, keeping the central ideas and essential facts |
| Elaborate | Explains how ideas connect, grounded in what's already there |
| Custom | Follows your own instruction |
Nothing changes until you've reviewed it. Each change is shown on its own, with the words that changed highlighted, and you accept or reject it. You can also ask for a single change to be refined, say shorter or with an example, or keep both versions of the page. A summary at the top calls out any factual correction, so it can't slip in unnoticed, and the original is saved in version history.
How much does it cost?
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Generated notes | 1 a week | Unlimited |
| Polish | 1 a week | Unlimited |
| AI imports (scanned PDFs, slides, YouTube) | 1 a week, shared | Unlimited |
| YouTube video length | Up to 30 minutes | Up to 4 hours |
| Price | $0 | $12 a month or $85 a year |
Each Refine of a Polish change counts as another Polish action. Pro can also read four times as much source material at once, and splits large jobs into sections. Free limits reset every Monday. Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax, except in the EU, where Pro is $15 a month or $105 a year including VAT. The full plans table is on the home page.
What it doesn't do
- YouTube needs English captions. Videos with no captions, and live streams, can't be imported.
- References are labels. The numbers name your sources but don't open them.
- Polish only works on your own pages. It can't rewrite a page someone shared with you.
- It needs a connection. Generating and polishing both call a model.
Questions people ask
Are my files used to train AI?
No. Nothing you put in Nibit or send through its AI features is used to train Nibit's or OpenAI's models. OpenAI processes requests in the United States and deletes them after up to 30 days. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Can I export the notes?
Yes. Export a page as HTML, PDF, Word or Markdown, or a whole notebook as a zip of Word, Markdown or HTML files, with PDF too in the Mac and Windows apps. A Nibit bundle keeps everything, recordings included, and can be imported again.
Can I turn the notes into flashcards or a quiz?
Yes. Once they're notes, they can become a flashcard deck, a quiz or a podcast.
How do I use this during a lecture?
Record the lecture, type your own notes beside it, then merge and Polish the result. The lecture notes guide walks through it step by step.
